It’s been a few years since the last part and I just couldn’t remember where”’ the story went. So I decided to redo everything from the 1995 original. Took me about 18 hours and I have to say it was as good a time as ever. I went back over 20 years when I first saw it. I was surprised.It made me think about my life from a different perspective and even make some changes because I thought it was for the best.

Now after two decades I see that most of my dreams have not come true and I am still a little boy trying to find his place among others to find himself. As I looked at Eva today, I remembered my high school and college friends, teachers, long-dead family members, co-workers from my first job — and how nice they all were to me, although I didn’t realize it at the time. After all these years, Evangelion still resonates in my heart, even more than the first time.

For me, the 21st Century Evangelion movies were something that let me experience life.Whenever things got worse and worse, I figured I’d have to live long enough to see the coming of Evangelion. And now the project that Hideaki had in mind for over 20 years is over. So was it a good movie? Well, basically – yes.

I wasn’t expecting any overwhelming revelations or philosophies, I just wanted to see it all again, and the new film is a good excuse to see it all from the start.It was nice to see old friends again, unforgettable places, to experience the emotions that accompanied me 20 years ago. I’m not interested in the plot, the action, or the CGI, I’m just happy to see Rei smile again. All the things I really care about are here. It’s a nostalgic film: it forces you to reminisce, to travel back in time to see if you missed something, not only in the film but in life itself. It’s also a sad farewell film, the end the flagpole, the real end of Evangelion, because there won’t be more.The time of Evangelion is over, now we live in a world without Eve.

I watched Evangelion when I was a young student. This could be my third return in over 20 years. Will I see Evangelion again? I would like… Maybe in 10 years, maybe in 20 years. But will I live that long? I’m not sure… This is most likely Goodbye Evangelion; the whole time. Sayonara’s old friend. I would like to see you one last time before I go.
